Jay-Z Nominated For Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame!

I know you might be thinking, “Why is Jay- Z nominated for that genre?” well he’s eligible because this year marks the 25th anniversary of his debut. Along with Jay- Z, Tina Turner, Chaka Khan, LL Cool J, Mary J. Blige, Foo Fighters, & many more were also nominated as well. There are a total 16 nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

The 36th annual class inductees will be announced in May, & in the Fall the ceremony will take place depending on circumstances by that time. COVID has halted ceremonies & award shows so that may or may not happen. It may have to be done virtually if possible.    


Aunt Jemima’s New Logo & Trademark: “Pearl Milling Company”

PepsiCo has officially rebranded their maple syrup & pancake mix. If you weren’t aware, one of the most popular brands amongst breakfast related products “Aunt Jemima” maple syrup & pancake mix are now known as “Pearl Milling Company.” Which in the 19th century was the original corporation created for the pancake mix.

PepsiCo & a number of other brands rebranded themselves in order to accommodate the black & brown community. During last summer’s Black Lives Matter movement.

Some public figures/celebrities felt as though the black & brown communities needed more than just a simple “name change.” Some brands were historically known solely for their racially triggering logos, messages, etc. Netflix also rid any show that offended the black & brown community as well. Netflix also honored Dave Chappelle’s request to rid his most profitable work, which was “The Chappelle Show” due to his circumstance  that still stands today.

It’s a well-known narrative that some of the most expensive, popular, & quality brands/corporations have racist/prejudice products, trademarks, or logos. The negative stereotypes on the black & brown community have always been accepted, tolerated, & profitable. However, companies are now taking a stand to change that by no longer carrying that name, trademark/logo.

PepsiCo statement:

“While the Aunt Jemima brand was updated over the years in a manner intended to remove racial stereotypes, it has not progressed enough to appropriately reflect the dignity, respect, and warmth that we stand for today.”  


Tik Tok Inks New Deal With Universal Music Group.

Universal Music Group & Tik Tok have partnered together, because of the app’s popular influence on the masses. The artists/musicians songs are promoted, streamed, etc. through popular trends/challenges, so it’s only right for UMG & Tik Tok to partner.

Tik Tok also makes it much easier for artists/musicians to be compensated for their song being used, quite frankly. Also, being that Triller is a well-known competitor of Tik Tok, UMG pulled their music catalog from the app.

Universal Music Group’s statement on their decision behind the partnership:

“Tik Tok has revolutionized how fans are connecting with our artists on their platform and in the social space, and we think that we have the potential to collaborate really deeply with them to develop the kinds of tools that are going to really move the needle  for our artists and for the industry.”
